The Arciorgano

The Arciorgano is a an organ with up to 38 keys per octave, developed, used and described by Nicola Vicentino in the Mid-16^th century. Studio31 reconstructed an Arciorgano with 36 keys per octave, which was built in 2016. It is currently located on the Campus of the Musik-Akademie Basel.

The Clavemusicum Omnitonum

The Clavemusicum Omnitonum is a harpsichord with 31 keys per octave, built in 1606 by Vito Trasuntino, preserved and currently located at the museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica in Bologna. Markus Krebs constructed a new harpsichord with 31 keys per octave for Studio31 in 2016, inspired by this original instrument. This new Clavemusicum Omnitonum is currently located at the Campus of the Musik-Akademie Basel.

The Cimbalo Cromatico

This instrument is structurally a conventional harpsichord that comes with a second, alternative keyboard with 24 keys per octave. This instrument is private property of Johannes Keller, but is regularly used for activities of Studio31.

The Archicembalo

The Archicembalo is a harpsichord with 36 keys per octave, described by Nicola Vicentino in 1555. 1974, musicologist Marco Tiella reconstructed this instrument in collaboration with the Formentelli workshop, following Vicentino's instructions. Marco Tiella generously made this instrument available for Studio31 from 2015 until 2025. In this period, the instrument was restored and used for research at the Musik-Akademie in Basel. The Archicembalo is currently located in Rovereto.
